Overview

Aren’t we all tied up and immersed in busy schedules? Well, indeed, it is so repetitive and monotonous. We are all living in a fast-paced world, where deadlines and challenges are so normal that overpacked schedules are the norm. Spending time sitting in one room is so normal these days, with almost no physical activities or spiritual movement. But, as human beings, we ultimately, there comes a time when you crave some peace and quiet. A moment of silence and a need for spiritual awakening, for oneself.
For centuries, completion of the Chardham Yatra was held as the greatest, most powerful pilgrimage in the Indo-Himalayan Range of India, the sacred journey of your soul to its source, represented in the four holiest sites or temples of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath, which are the four spiritual cores in Hinduism. All connected by the wisdom of Saint Adi Shankaracharya into a perfect pilgrimage that, upon finish, would take the same amount of time and energy as living this entire human life, with all its pleasure and pain, in a single spirit-filled journey. Traditionally, the Chardham Yatra required 2-3 weeks of road trips, many miles of mountain hikes, and overcoming the effects of higher altitudes and colder temperatures to reach the holy sites. In contrast, those pilgrims seeking to perform their Yatra in modern times, and whose busy lives don't have the time or physical capacity to walk the original hiking routes in the mountains, have struggled mightily to complete their pilgrimage experience.

It will be nice if you can take some time off to blow the steam off.  You should take holy journeys that are taken for practical reasons. These journeys will help you connect with a higher being. The helicopter ride through Uttarakhand alone is not only one of the highlights of your trip, but also one of the most memorable, as you will see beautiful waterfalls, glacier-fed rivers, green Alpine forests and small villages that are completely free from modern distractions. The mountains in the early morning hours are a magnificent golden colour, and when viewed at sunset, they are pink and silver in colour.
This 5-day tour, which starts and ends in Dehradun, offers all four Chardham, including the formalities of each site, VIP access to each Dham, as well as enough time and guidance to fully experience the spiritual importance of each encounter. Good news is, there is no limit of one Dham per day, which means you can spend an ample amount of time meditating, reflecting and cleansing. This is not the condensed or “shortened” version of the Chardham Yatra; this is the Chardham Yatra, made available to everyone who is sincere in following their calling from God. You may fly by helicopter to reach your destination, but ultimately the dhams will provide you with the transformation, and Lord Shiva, Goddess Yamunotri, Lord Vishnu and Goddess Ganges would take care of everything else.

The way a helicopter approaches each Dham shows how an aerial view can help you understand the geography of each valley and how they relate to one another, as opposed to only taking a road trip towards them. Not only does this five-day pilgrimage visit every Dham, but it also gives visitors the opportunity to spend time at each Dham and not rush through. For visitors who only spend one day at each Dham, they will only see a temple and will not have the deep experience that coming to each Dham for five days provides. All Dhams represent the four Ashrams or periods of one's life (i.e. Brahmacharya, Grihastha, Vanaprastha, and Sannyasa). Completing the Chardham Pilgrimage means that all four of those periods were lived within the experience of one pilgrimage. For a human being, completing the Chardham is one of the most significant spiritual experiences in their lifetime.

Highlights

Start in Doon Valley
You will start from  Dehradun, which is at an elevation of 640 meters. This place is not only a city but also a culmination of nature and beauty. Also, did you know that Dehradun is also home to some ancient shrines, world-class educational institutions, training centres, and much more? Did you know that Dehradun is recorded in the holy Hindu scriptures, too, in the Ramayana and the Mahabharata? You might have heard about the tale of the sage Drona, who trained the Pandavas at his ashram here. And that is how the Doon Valley received its name, Drona's Doon. We suggest that the best way to explore here is to opt for walking. You will be able to experience the Doon Valley for quite a while now. You will come across some wonderful architectural works such as Sage’s Forest Retreat, Imperial Administrative Centre, Colonial Infrastructure, and so much more. Ultimately, Dehradun is now a modern gateway to the Himalayas. It has been beautiful, no matter what name it has been called or what purpose it served, Dehradun has been beautiful throughout its entire history.

A Divine journey through the Himalayas
All aspects of this helicopter yatra service have been developed to reduce anxiety and provide a greater level of peace of mind for all pilgrims, from the transitional arrangements and scheduling to the accommodations and food provided to the pilgrims. At the same time, the simple temple rituals and the simplicity of life high in the mountains have served to remind the pilgrims of the true reason for their pilgrimage. The Significance of the Four Dhams. Although the Char Dham pilgrimage is often divided into four distinct areas, they all have unique spiritual energies and invoke different kinds of emotional responses.

Yamunotri, the beginning of purity
Yamunotri Temple, dedicated to the Goddess Yamuna, is the starting point of the Char Dham Yatra. Located in the Garhwal Himalayas, Yamunotri is supported by dramatic mountains, natural hot springs, and exquisite beauty. According to Hindu beliefs, taking darshan from the Goddess Yamuna protects one from an untimely death while purifying the soul. Did you know? The actual source of the Yamuna River is at Champasar Glacier, almost 13 kilometres upstream from the temple. The energy of Yamunotri is youthful, fresh, and spiritually awakening, as if the pilgrimage itself is assisting in opening up the spirit of devotion.

Gangotri - The River That Is Considered to be Holy
The next step of the trip after Gangotri Temple (the temple is built in honour of the Goddess Ganga, or Ganges) is Gangotri, where it is believed that the holy river Ganga, which is not just a river but also represents the power of God, fell to earth from Heaven due to King Bhagirath's efforts. The history says that Bhagirath performed severe penance to bring the Ganga down from Heaven and, as a result of his penance, God allowed the Ganga, as it is known, to flow from Heaven to the earth.
The feeling of being in this spiritual place is one of deep calmness because the sounds of the flowing water of the river create a rhythm that helps to calm the mind. The true beginning of the Ganga River is at the Gaumukh Glacier (about 18 kilometres from Gangotri) and it is called Gaumukh because it looks like a cow's mouth. For many pilgrims, standing next to the cold water of the Bhagirathi River is very emotional, and many offer prayers for their family, family members from the past, and loved ones.

Kedarnath, the holiest temple of Shiva
Kedarnath is the focal point of emotional energy for thousands of pilgrims participating in the Char Dham Yatra (pilgrimage). Standing at an elevation of 11,755 feet, the Kedarnath Temple is one of the. Twelve Jyotirlingas, and it is believed to be one of the holiest temples of Shiva. As soon as you are in the Kedarnath area, you will feel and experience an overwhelming amount of intensity, power, and spirituality. Massive mountains covered in snow surround the ancient stone temple, while the continuous chanting of "Har Har Mahadev" can be heard reverberating throughout the valley. During the tragic 2013 floods in Uttarakhand, an enormous boulder was able to redirect the floodwaters inside the temple and, as such, provided protection for the main shrine from being damaged/destroyed by floodwaters. Many devotees considered this an act of God. The moment you offer your darshan to Kedarnath, the experience of darshan at Kedarnath for many pilgrims brings them to a state of overwhelming emotion because this experience is intensely personal and provides surrender, strength, healing, and divine connection to Lord Shiva.

Badrinath, the Abode of Tranquillity
As you arrive at Badrinath Temple, the energy is completely different from the other dhams, as it is the last dham. Badrinath is a very tranquil and warm place that provides spiritual comfort to pilgrims and visitors alike. It's located between Nar and Narayan mountains and will give you heavenly feelings during both sunrise and sunset when viewed from Neelkanth Mountain. Did you know that the  Badrinath is one of the 108 Divya Desams, meaning that this temple is considered to be among the top Vishnu temples in the Vaishnav tradition based on its religious significance. When you visit this dham, many times pilgrims will find themselves much more tranquil than when they started because even if their outward situations haven't changed, their inner being has found a place of stillness.

We should like to make a special note here that Helicopter journeys often add to the spiritual experience because pilgrims are able to conserve physical energy while focusing time and energy on prayer, reflection, gratitude, and emotional connections. Instead of travelling by road and being physically exhausted, through the helicopter journey, you can just sit back and enjoy. In this way, the journey is spiritually enriching instead of draining physically. And unlike driving there, helicopter rides make for lasting memories. The aerial views of the Garhwal Himalayas will give you a view of the wonderfully unique landscape that you cannot appreciate fully from the roads below. The sun shining on the snow-covered peaks turns them into a glowing vision; rivers seem to be silver ribbons running through the valleys, and waterfalls will get your attention as they cascade off the sides of cliffs. When you are there at sunrise, the mountains glow with shades of gold, while at sunset, the mountains are shades of pink, silver, and violet in colour. These experiences seem to be so much more than transportation; they are divine aerial pilgrimages. Helicopter yatras have now opened up the doors to thousands of people who wouldn't have been able to physically make the Char Dham pilgrimage before. People who have been waiting their whole life to do this can now accomplish that goal. Families can share the pilgrimage in comfort. Generations can create memories together, take pictures together and create bonds through their blessings and feelings.

Itinerary

D 1
Dehradun Arriva

The beginning of the Pilgrimage takes place in Dehradun, where pilgrims will arrive with much anticipation and excitement. Once checked into the hotel, travellers attend a Yatra briefing session, which includes a weather update, safety protocols, luggage instructions, and a schedule of temples being visited. Generally, the evening will be quiet and reflective for the travellers. Some will continue preparing spiritually; others take some time to meditate/spend time uninterrupted, enjoying the beautiful atmosphere of Dehradun before starting their journey into the Himalayas. Furthermore, as pilgrims will be departing early in the morning, they will have an overnight stay at Dehradun for adequate rest. Your journey begins from Dehradun, nestled in the Doon valley of the Himalayas and the Shivani ranges at an altitude of 640 meters. Today, the evening is all yours. We also make some suggestions to our devotees to head out to the outskirts of Dehradun to visit the Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple. It is an ancient and established cave shrine which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This ancient temple contains a revered Shivalinga. It is believed to be formed by a natural spring. According to their history, the Tapkeshwar spring has never gone dry and continuously performs natural washing of deities, also known as abhishek, on the Shivalinga solely from the water falling from the mountain. This is how we can see how nature has displayed its love for Lord Shiva in this way long before the arrival of pilgrims to witness it. If you are lucky enough, on clear days, you will get a glimpse of snow-capped Himalayan peaks too. After the temple visit, if you have some spare time, you can take a walk in the city of Dehradun and explore some lip-smacking Uttarakhand cuisines as evening snacks. Overnight stay will be in an accommodation in Dehradun with a home-cooked vegetarian dinner.

D 2
Dehradun to Yamunotri

Today, in the early morning, you will move out of Dehradun towards the Sahastradhara Helipad. At the helipad, you will be welcomed by our team. Our team will provide you with a briefing about the overview of the entire trip, safety protocols, a full day itinerary briefing showing where to travel to the Yamunotri temple, how to collect your Prasad from Surya Kund and the procedures surrounding it, as well as details regarding the altitude and trek conditions you will face during your trip. Everything will be explained in detail. This helicopter ride is 45-55 mins of flying in the air from Sahastradhara Helipad to Kharsali. The views that you will encounter during this journey will put you in awe. Maybe, for the first time in your life, you will witness something so real, an exceptional aerial view of the pilgrim’s transition from an urban man-made sphere to the Himalayas’ sacred mountains. Once arriving at the Kharsali helipad, pilgrims must go to the Yamunotri Temple. Depending on their choice of travel, the final distance from the Kharsali helipad to the Yamunotri Temple can be completed by short trekking distance, horseback riding, or through the use of a palki. As with every temple, there will be a very vibrant and spiritually refreshing atmosphere. As you arrive at the Yamunotri Temple to offer your prayers to Goddess Yamuna and receive her blessings for health, longevity, and the purging of sins.  Overnight stay in Kharsali.

D 3
Karsali to Gangotri

Today you will fly over a spectacular valley of Uttarakhand. Harsil is quite famous for apple orchards, pine trees and breathtaking views of the mountains all around you. This area exudes an unparalleled peacefulness, which makes it ideal for a moment of quiet reflection before experiencing darshan at Gangotri Temple. Once you reach Gnagotri, you will be welcomed by the huge Bhagirath Gorge. You can see the goddess Ganaga from here in the most pure and powerful form, flowing with the most fierceness. As you arrive near the shrine, there are a few steps we recommend each pilgrim and devotee follow. The first thing that you need to do is visit the Divya Shila, a sacred rock that all pilgrims visit before entering the main temple. Go then to the Bhagirath Shila, a flat rock located just outside of the temple and a place where King Bhagirath did his famous meditation, to call the goddess Ganga from heaven to redeem the souls of his ancestors and also a historic location. The cold Bhagirathi River flows right alongside the temple, adding to the deep meditative experience that pilgrims seek. Many pilgrims will spend time sitting by the river listening to the gentle sounds of the rushing water and internally reflecting. The overall experience of being here provides an incredible sense of spiritual renewal. Pilgrims will stay overnight in Harsil.

D 4
Kedarnath-Badrinath

This is the day you have been waiting for. You might feel really emotional. This will be one of the most powerful emotional days of your entire pilgrimage. As you take the flight and land at Kedarnath Temple, you will be able to take advantage of a VIP darshan. As you reach there, visit the inner sanctum and offer your prayers. The sight of Kedarnath’s distinctive temple framed by the snowy peaks of the Himalayas is often overwhelming for travellers. The atmosphere at Kedarnath is intense yet comforting; it feels powerful and tranquil at the same time; it has both a long-standing heritage and a very modern presence. After completing your visit and making your prayers at Kedarnath, you will continue the pilgrimage with your visit to Badrinath Temple. Where Kedarnath may provide drama, Badrinath will provide calmness and elegance. Pilgrims will have a chance to offer prayers to Lord Vishnu and visit some other spiritual locations, depending on available time and weather. Pilgrims will spend the night in Badrinath.

D 5
Return to Dehradun

It is suggested to try to make it on time for the early morning prayers at the Badrinath shrine if you can wake up early. You will then be able to take a dip in Tapt Kund as a final farewell. Eat an excellent vegetarian breakfast that was cooked nicely. You will leave from Badrinath by vehicle to Guptkashi, and then by helicopter to either Phata or Sirsi helipad, which will take approximately 40-50 minutes to get there. Take lots of pictures on this trip and use this experience to help create inner peace within yourself. In Dehradun, you can either explore Doon Valley or wait to fly to your final destination.
