Festivals in Jodhpur

The celebrations in Jodhpur are the most flamboyant of all because they mix royal and peasant customs. The Marwar Festival, which happens in October, is one of the most well-known festivities in Rajasthan. It honours the heroes of the state and includes traditional music and dancing. During the Rajasthan International Folk Festival (RIFF), you may also go to Mehrangarh Fort. It happens on the night of Sharad Purnima. People from all over the world come to see it and listen to music. The Nagaur Fair, which is near Jodhpur, is a lively cattle fair with traditional sports and exhibitions. During Diwali, Jodhpur is full of lights, and during Holi, it is full of vibrant hues. The holidays of Gangaur and Teej are mostly for women. People honor them with elaborate parades and other local customs. At festivals, you can see people riding camels, puppet shows, folk tales, and traditional dances like Ghoomar and Kalbeliya. People come together at local fairs and religious festivals, which makes the city come alive. These events teach people a lot about the culture of Marwari. These parties are excellent because they mix music, colour, tradition, and community.

1. Marwar Festival (October): A bright homage to the brave soldiers from Rajasthan. Folk music, camel tattoo performances, and traditional dances bring places like Mehrangarh Fort in big cities to life.

2. Rajasthan International Folk Festival (RIFF): This music festival, which takes place in Mehrangarh Fort in October and draws performers from all over the world, is supported by UNESCO. Attend this festival if you enjoy global music and the rhythms of the desert.

3. Gangaur Festival (March–April): Women wear traditional clothes and carry idols in processions to honour this lively event. People honour Goddess Parvati's dedication with songs, dances, and other events.

4. Holi – Festival of Colours: Holi is a terrific time to be in Jodhpur. People are dancing in the streets; colours are flying all over the place, and even the forts look joyful. Take Kausalya with you to view it once.

5. Diwali – Festival of Lights: Diyas and lanterns light up homes, temples, and havelis. There are many people in the marketplaces, and the sweets keep flowing. From above, the city seems like a brilliant diamond.

6. Navratri and Dussehra: In the parks and community centres of Jodhpur, there are Garba nights and Ramlila shows that are fun to go to. This nine-day festival of might is a time when the Hindu culture in the city is at its strongest.

7. Teej Festival (August): Women generally celebrate Teej by swinging, getting henna, singing traditional songs, and eating special delicacies. It represents love, dedication, and the start of the monsoon season
