Chardham Yatra Fixed Departure From Haridwar 2026
Overview
Let this year 2026 be your year filled with prayers, peace, and self-growth and development. And what could be the best way to experience an intervention from the divine being? Well, you might not realise it, but amidst the busy schedules, this is a trip that you have been longing for that we as pilgrims have in our hearts. It is not the longing of someone who is always looking for a new experience, but rather a yearning that has been there for a very long time. You might not realise this, but perhaps it must have taken decades for this moment. This occurs in the early morning when we pray, and it can also occur in the silence when the soul expresses itself to us in a clearer way than through the usual chaos of day-to-day living.
When you begin to get the message from your soul, you sense that the Chardham Yatra is waiting for you by name. You know that there has been a lot of time waiting to meet you with complete and peaceful support until you are ready to reach this destination. The Chardham Yatra Fixed Departure from Haridwar 2026 is your answer to this message from your soul. You are going to be able to take this trip for 10 days from Haridwar through all four of the Dhams, namely Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath and back to Haridwar. You will be able to plan and book the trip knowing that your trip is being managed by a highly seasoned group of professionals who care for you and will devote themselves to you.
Embark on a ten-day spiritual pilgrimage through the breathtaking Garhwal Himalayas of northern India as part of the Chardham pilgrimage package. For more than 1200 years, this transformative journey has provided pilgrims from around the world with an unparalleled opportunity to disengage from their busy lives and dedicate themselves entirely to those sacred spaces.
Did you know that annually, over 3 to 4 million people participate in this holy pilgrimage? And it is one of the largest active pilgrimage circuits in the world. When you take this journey to the Char Dham Yatra, you will get to meet the devotees, seekers from and across India. And interestingly, all devotees share their own unique stories. This pilgrimage is truly about connecting while creating lifelong memories together. This is your time, and you must take your time to explore these four holy Dhams, in order starting from Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. You will also have the very best guides, hygienic, healthy home-cooked meals, comfortable accommodations, spiritual ceremonies, and plenty of time to reflect upon the significance of each Dham during your spiritual journey. After a day to settle into your accommodations in Haridwar, the Chardham pilgrimage begins either by taking a bus or a vehicle from Haridwar to Yamunotri. From there, your journey will take you deep into the mountains and to each of the four Dhams, returning you to Haridwar after this once-in-a-lifetime experience. One absolutely cannot hurry through their pilgrimage; instead, embrace it at your own pace and cherish your experiences along the way.
The Chardham Yatra Fixed Departure originates from Haridwar for good reason. This location marks the ideal starting point for completing the largest religious pilgrimage circuit in the Himalayan region of India. Hardiwar actually means that it is the Gateway to God and is also considered one of the seven holiest cities according to Hindu mythology and belief. And it has also been recognised as one of the world’s oldest sacred places. Haridwar is located precisely at the point of origin for the Ganga River. As such, this site serves as a complete destination where the Ganga River flows off the mountains to the plains. Therefore, the journey to all four of the Chardham locations will begin at this point, at the river's edge on the banks at dusk, with diyas being set adrift in a downstream direction towards their ultimate destination.
Yamunotri is at an elevation of 3,293 meters. It also marks the birthplace of the Yamuna River. And it is also the first leg of the Char Dham Pilgrimage, which is the divine commencement of the entire sacred journey. There is a story and a belief that the daughter of the sun god and twin sister of the god of death, the goddess who recalls, her child starts the faithful beginning of the journey. You will be happy to know that, enough to know the burdens each pilgrim carries in his or her heart and receives them all.
Gangotri is at an elevation of 3,100 meters, where the sacred Bhagirathi River flows. You can see the pure mist from an ancient gorge in a constant veil of mist, where the pristine white temple stands on the cliff.
Kedarnath is located at a height of 3,583 meters and is the holiest sanctuary in the Indian Himalayas. And one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, revered by pilgrims of centuries past as the most physically alive place on earth. The ancient grey stone temple lies in a huge glacial bowl at the base of
Kedarnath Peak and Kedar Dome. Last but not least, there is Badrinath, which is the last Dham among the Char Dham Pilgrimage sites. The last of the four Dham sites that create a sacred trail across Northern India is the final gift at an altitude of 3,133 meters. This is where Lord Vishnu resides in eternal radiance amid the brilliant red and gold seen against the greyish-white of the Neelkanth Peak. The Tapt Kund welcomes tired bodies from long journeys to find rest in its warm waters. The darshan occurs by the light of the diya. The total absence of sound and complete stillness are gifts from the Chardham; these two things express an everlasting connection to the gods.
This is the fixed departure Chardham yatra from Haridwar for 2026 that gives you access to a greater understanding of the divine being, which no personal tour will ever give you. You will experience complete professional management, company with fellow worshippers, and the special energy created by a group of people travelling together on the most revered pilgrimage route in the Himalayas of India.
Highlights
Haridwar and Rishikesh are the start of the journey
This sacred journey starts and ends at Har Ki Pauri with the Ganga Aarti. The journey starts and finishes at Har Ki Pauri on both the first and last evenings of the journey. Haridwar is home to the Kumbh Mela, the largest peaceful gathering of humanity in the world, which can host up to 70 million pilgrims. On day one of the journey from Haridwar to Barkot, you will pass through Rishikesh (the Yoga Capital of the World). In Rishikesh, the Ganga River appears jade green and young, while ancient ashrams dot the forested banks. As you travel over the sacred river on the two suspension bridges namely Ram Jhula and Laxman Jhula, you will cross the first threshold of the pilgrimage, moving from the collective devotion of the city to the individual sacred experience of the mountain.
Barkot and Uttarkashi
Barkot and Uttarkashi are the Chardham's first two nights and are typically the least recognised of the 10 days; they are actually the most important of all of the acclimatisation phases.
Barkot is your first real immersion in the Himalayas, breathe the fresh mountain air, experience the quiet of a forested valley, and savour the taste of belonging from home-style Garhwali food.
The approach to Gangotri through the Harsil Valley, with stunning apple orchards and deodar forests lining the road, and the most beautiful view of the Bhagirathi as you drive along, is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful scenic drives anywhere in India on the Chardham Circuit.
The 16-kilometre trek from Gaurikund to Kedarnath is the Chardham's most intense physical and spiritual experience. It is a processional journey through rhododendron forests and alpine meadows, during which time the sound of "Har Har Mahadev" is echoed by hundreds of people, and the burdens of the ordinary world melt away with every step and kilometre travelled.
The town of Joshimath, in addition to its being the last stop on the way back from Kedarnath before proceeding to Badrinath, has immense historical and religious significance, enough so that the 10 days allotted allow time to properly honour this significance. The Narsingh Temple, built by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century CE, is the first of the four sacred Mathas of Shankaracharya and is the northern point of the spiritual/topographic area of India. The Kalpavriksha (wish-fulfilling) tree, under which Shankaracharya has meditated. Shankaracharya's Cave, where the great philosopher meditated in silence before he left to go to Badrinath. Tapt Kund – the final act of sacred preparation before entering into the sanctum sanctorum of Badrinath – the sacred hot springs that restore the body of the tired pilgrim after a long physical journey of nine spectacular days in the mountains, and the VIP darshan (watching or viewing) of Lord Badri Narayan (Badrinath) in the innermost sanctum sanctorum of Badrinath are the last, and most personal, of the sacred acts performed in the Chardham circuit.
Finally, the return trip from Badrinath to Haridwar via Devprayag (the confluence of the Bhagirathi River [from Gangotri] and the Alaknanda River, which together form the Ganga) completes the perfect geographical closure of the Chardham Yatra.

Itinerary
The Ganges at dawn, and our first puja or prayer for the Chardham Yatra — taking place at Har Ki Pauri, the holiest Ghat (place of bathing) in Haridwar and the beginning of this magical journey through the Himalayas.
See the Chandi Devi Temple (take the ropeway to Neel Parvat hill — with a breathtaking view of the city and the river), the Mansa Devi Temple (wish-fulfilling goddess), Daksh Mahadev Temple (the pilgrimage that follows the traditional three blessings of Haridwar to prepare you for entering the higher elevation of the Himalayas). Arriving in Barkot this evening will be in this quiet little town that is going to be your base for the first holy step toward your ultimate destination tomorrow. The home-cooked vegetarian dinner you will enjoy at a local home (Aloo ke gutke, Dal, Fresh Roti with local Ghee) will taste like family. You will already begin preparing for what lies ahead in and around the mountains.
Places to visit:
● Chandi Devi Temple
● Daksh Mahadev Temple
● Mansa Devi Temple
After breakfast, you will travel by vehicle to Janki Chatti, the place from where your trek to Yamunotri will commence. You will drive on forested mountain roads while listening to the sound of the Yamuna as you increase in altitude. The trek from Janki Chatti to Yamunotri is a distance of 6 kilometres and follows a forested valley to one side of the young Yamuna, and is considered to be the physical beginning of the Char Dham Yatra. Throughout this section of the journey, you'll see prayer flags tied to trees and hear the sound of the river mixed with the chanting sounds of the people around you. The Yamuna River flows for 1,376 kilometres from its glacial source at or near Yamunotri to its confluence with the Ganga River in Prayag. Be sure to visit the Surya Kund, which is a hot spring where many of the pilgrims will prepare prasad.
● Rishikesh - famous for yoga, meditation, etc.
● Mussoorie - the queen of the hills, many natural spots
After having breakfast, you will depart from Barkot and drive deeper into the Garhwal mountain range, heading toward Uttarkashi. You'll reach Uttarkashi just by the banks of the Bhagirathi River mid-morning. The name "Uttarkashi" translates to "the Kashi (a sacred city in India) of the North," which represents the ancient Varanasi (also a sacred city in India). They have the same understanding of their divine connection to Lord Shiva; thus, it can be viewed as two separate physical locations, but spiritually, they are both manifestations of Lord Shiva. After the mid-afternoon visit to the Vishwanath Temple, you will also visit the remarkable Shiva Gufa (a natural cave shrine). You will then return to your hotel for a vegetarian dinner.
After having breakfast, the vehicles travel up the Bhagirathi River through the Harsil valley - one of the most beautiful drives in India - arriving in Gangotri by midday. The temple is white and situated on the river shore, with the Bhagirathi crashing through the gorge below in a constant state of holy mist. Stand at the brink of the gorge and allow the river to announce Ganga to you before you enter her shrine, after you have worshipped the Divya Shila.
After that, you will be able to take part in the Gangotri temple darshan by worshipping the idol of Ganga, the river still being audible below you, and being surrounded by the perpetual mist that makes the air holy, as well as the warm illumination from the oil lamps illuminating the white-washed walls. After completing your darshan, you will travel back to Uttarkashi in the vehicles you arrived in and enjoy a vegetarian dinner. Dham number two just took place.
Must Visit:
● Shiv Gufa
● Vishwanath Temple
● Local Market for Religious Items
You will travel over a long distance from Uttarkashi to Guptkashi, the base town for Kedarnath today. Look out for the Tehri Dam at 260 metres, where the longest dam in India can be found between mountains with a blue-green lake filling most of its width. You'll also see Devprayag, which marks the meeting point of the rivers Bhagirathi and Alaknanda to become the Ganga; and Rudraprayag, which marks the meeting point of Alaknanda and Mandakini (the sacred river of God's people in Kedarnath Valley). Arrive in the Hidden Kashi (Guptkashi), where Lord Shiva established residence after leaving the Pandavas, after appearing as a Sacred Bull. Visit Vishwanath Temple and Ardhnarishwar Temple - they contain intense positive energy, reflecting their historical importance here.
Places you must visit:
● Gangnani Hot Springs
● Harsil Valley
● Bhairav Temple
The vehicles depart for Sonprayag and Gaurikund following an early breakfast. It will be a long but simply breathtaking drive in the Himalayas. And as you drive through the most serene and scenic Himalayan landscapes, we would recommend you to take a short halt at Guptkashi before proceeding to Kedarnath. Hike for 20 kms between Gaurikund to Kedarnath in the backdrop of rhododendron forests, Alpine meadows, and several soaring mountain streams while many pilgrims chant ‘Har, Har Mahadev’. The Kedarnath trek represents the longest and hardest of the three Chardham treks.
And here are some important local food recommendations: Phulka, Dal-chawal. Overnight Stay at Guptkashi, Breakfast & Dinner included.
Make sure to visit:
● Tehri Dam
● Ardh Nareshwar Temple
In the morning again, we will drive towards Sonprayag.
Your Trekking Route from Sonprayag and Guarikund: From Sonprayag and Guarikund, your trekking route starts. It is a divine feeling as you proceed towards Gaurikund to start your trekking route towards Kedarnath. Every step of yours is a ‘prasad’ or ‘offering’ in itself. Reach the Kedarnath Temple, which is one of the most sacred Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. You must have a moment of self-realisation, repentance, and prayers, and a new perspective on life. Some of the most important local cuisine recommendations: Eat simple meals at the temples and drink a lot of fluids. Overnight Stay at Kedarnath, Breakfast & Dinner
Dressed in every layer of warm clothing, you will then walk to the temple in the pre-dawn silence where the first sunrise rays touch the temple windows, to perform the morning darshan at Lord Badri Narayan's temple. The only people present will be yourself and any early morning pilgrims who happen to be there before the rest of the day's pilgrims arrive for their darshan. It is the final sacred act of the Chardham Yatra. When you enter the temple, you will see Lord Badri Narayan represented by a black Shaligram in eternal padmasana. You will be able to present your prayers, heart, and worship at this sacred place.
This is one of those moments you have been anticipating, and it is now your time to receive Lord Badri Narayan's blessing. After this will be a walking and driving trip back to Guptkashi, where you will have an overnight stay with breakfast and dinner provided.
Following breakfast in the morning and saying goodbye to the Badrinath valley, looking at Neelkanth one last time, visiting Tapt Kund again if possible, and praying to the temple one last time, the vehicles will make their way south. By evening, they will arrive in Srinagar in Uttarakhand, a calming riverside township along the Alaknanda River, which is flowing beautifully and quite wide, and where one can notice how very different the mountains slowly become as they are replaced by rolling hills near the town. In terms of quality, this is a particularly enjoyable experience for those arriving from the nine days spent at high altitude. Additionally, the Kamleshwar Mahadev Temple, considered by much of the Garhwal region to be one of the most ancient Shiva temples, is located here; it is believed that Lord Rama did penance there after his war with Lanka. While returning to their home state of Uttarakhand, travellers will have one more spiritual opportunity to learn about the sacred places throughout Garhwal, where travellers to that area and previously said travels could have a greater understanding due to this encounter.
Today, the journey begins again from Devprayag. Our devotees mark their journey back home. You will return to Haridwar with blessings and memories of a lifetime. It is not the end of the journey; rather, it is the beginning of a new spiritual, enlightened journey. Breakfast Included.
While returning, make sure you do not forget to visit: Devprayag, Ram Jhula. Laxman Jhula
