What could be the best possible way to give some rest and peace to the heart? For many people, travelling is the answer, especially to the mountains. We have a solution for you, not temporary but a fix for your heart and soul.
We have the soul transforming and refreshing Char Dham Yatra circuit is the only way to heal both your body and your soul. This is not only an opportunity to develop a divine Connection which will eventually result in your ability to unwind for many years. Since the past thousands of years there have been innumerable seekers, sages, devotees who visit the Char Dham circuit, for centuries. As you travel, you not only get to witness the mighty four holy shrines including Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath but also a relaxation day at Jim Corbett.
You will be starting from Haridwar, the doorway to spiritual connections. This is where the holiest river in India, namely river Ganga receives its first breath from the glacier face. You will begin your journey at Haridwar - the door to the land of sacredness and the first time the Ganges River touches the plains. As the Ganges flows through this sacred mountain, the Garhwal Himalayas, it will take its plunge into several holy confluences. For many years, this conference has attracted many seekers. This is the main attraction in the entire town and it creates holiness in every area of the entire town. Afterwards you will reach Yamunotri where the sister of the God of Death will help free any person from a premature death. This entire journey will be extremely experiential due to the beautiful scenery within the sacred areas of the Garhwal Himalayas. You will be able to visit each of the four Holy Dhams of the Char Dham Circuit including Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath.
This is a very unique package, as it consists not only of the four Dhams but also Jim Corbett for relaxation and healing. You may consider this as grace time as well as self-discovery. Thus, we call it a complete package as your devotees get to experience all 3 aspects of your Being that is Mind, Body & Spirit. Each The Dham represents an integral aspect of spiritual Hindu mythology and has its own significance. All of the Dham create a synergy of experiences designed to create a pathway to realising/divine consciousness through realising one’s true self. All the Dham also contain the potential for providing spiritual energy that will facilitate the devotees' spiritual purification.
The first Dham you will visit is Yamunotri, which is the source of the river Yamuna. It is also regarded as the spiritual home of goddess Yamuna. It is set amidst the Himalayan mountain range and is considered to be the gateway to eternal life. There is a hot spring nearby where devotees make offerings, creating a feeling of purity throughout the Dham.
Then another Dham will be Gnagotri. The most holy river flows from here. It is believed that Ganga is the most holy river on the planet. It is also referred as Mother Ganga and is considered the lifeline of humanity. Gangotri is in the Himalayas, surrounded by beautiful landscapes. It’s also a place where spirituality, holiness, and forgiveness for sins can be found. Many people believe that the Ganges River has the power to cleanse us of our past sins.
Kedarnath is one of the most bucketlisted places for many people. It is one of the sacred places of worship in the world. You might have heard of Jyotirlingas. Kedarnath is the twelve Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva and is the site of the most important pilgrimage in India, the Char Dham. The shrine of Kedarnath holds great historical and cultural importance. Legend has it that the temple can magically transform to accommodate local needs. The temple has stood for a very long time and it radiates spirituality and holiness from within itself. When you visit the shrine, you will also see the Akhand Jyoti also known as the eternal flame. It has a very high sacred value, it has been burning continuously for six months despite the harshest conditions during winter, without seeing a human being while snow caps the entire area. In addition to looking up at the stars in the glacial valleys, the morning aarti just after dawn when the sunrise first touches the Kedarnath peak through the door of the temple is what makes the Dham so special.
Lastly, the ultimate dham among the four is Badrinath. Badrinath represents Lord Vishnu also known as the preserver of the Universe. Badrinath shrine is located next to the River Alaknanda. The mountain behind Badrinath is the large Neelkanth Peak. When you visit Badrinath, you must first bathe in Taptkund, a natural hot spring to purify yourself before entering the temple. Bathing in the sacred waters will cleanse both your body and spirit. The experience of visiting Lord Badri Narayan Badrinath is very fulfilling.
By adding Jim Corbett after your trip to Holy Dhams, the trip is officially made complete. You will feel the smooth transition from summit to Jungle. Did you know there is an interesting story about Jim Corbett? The legendary Jim Corbett, who turned from hunter to conservationist, was dedicated to the forests where he lived. He is therefore the natural counterpart of the sacred architecture offered through the Chardham temples. The legacy of Jim Corbett's conservation is that he is the first person to publicly advocate for wildlife conservation in India. From Chardham to Jim Corbett is not a change of topic, but a change of register, it is a continuation of the same sacred conversation from God to the forest, with a voice older, wilder and equally real than that of a past temple at 3,583 metres.
Highlights
Haridwar and Rishikesh: where spiritual journey begins
This Char Dham Yatra package with Jim Corbett includes two famous holy towns with the starting point of Haridwar and Rishikesh. Almost every spiritual journey begins from Haridwar and Rishikesh and they both are next to the sacred river of Ganga. Haridwar is famously known as the Gateway to God and is one of the seven most sacred places for Hindus. It is also one of the oldest sacred inhabited places in the world. When you are in Haridwar, you must experience the Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri, which is performed every evening. The Har Ki Pauri ghat gets its name from "Hari" or Lord Vishnu and "Pauri" means steps. It is believed to be standing on the footprint of Lord Vishnu imprinted in stone and visible during high water levels, and are considered actual steps of Lord Vishnu. This Ganga arti is performed everyday, without a day skip, for more than thousands of years now. Believe it or not, but this moment has been waiting for years. This is the time you can put your heart to rest and offer prayers with an ultimate view of thousands of earthen lamps floating in River Ganga.
Following up is Rishikesh famously known as the yoga capital of India. Since ages, countless devotees, seekers and pilgrims have visited rishikesh. People come here to experience deep spiritual upliftment. When you are in Rishikesh, You must visit two suspension bridges, one is Ram Jhula and then Laxman Jhula. It is one of the most wonderful experiences you will have, as you walk on the suspension bridges over the holy waters of the Ganga. You will be able to see some of the ancient ashrams rising from the tree-covered banks of Ganga on both sides.
Well, let us also tell you about a very interesting fact related to Haridwar. Haridwar, is the site for the Kumbh Mela. which is not only the largest but also oldest Mela of peaceful humanity on Earth. More than 70 million people gather here. Did you know that, the gate of Kumbh Mela, is determined by the precise positioning of Jupiter, the Sun, and the Moon through Vedic astronomers’ calculations.
Barkot and Uttrakashi, the Northern Kashi’s
After Haridwar you will spend a couple of nights in Barkot and Uttrakashi. Barkot is a small himalayan hamlet filled with nature’s beautiful landscape. As soon as you enter Barkot the landscape changes. This is where you will start to feel clean, crisp, thin himalayan air which is a treat to your city lungs. You can also taste home-cooked Garhwali dishes. Then you will also come across the Northern Kashi, famously known as Uttarkashi. Uttrakashi is also home to the famous Vishwanath Temple. Vishwanath Temple is the largest Shiva temple in the region of Uttarakhand. Uttrakashi is Located on the banks of the river Bhagirathi, which ultimately divides into the Ganga River at Devprayag, as you stand at the banks of the ghats (where the Bhagirathi river runs) and see how quickly the river is rushing through the ghats in front of you. Barkot and Uttrakashi serve as two grace days where you get to prepare yourself and acclimatize yourself.
Uttrakashi also has a very interesting fact. Also, Uttarkashi is home to the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, one of Asia's most reputed institutions for high-altitude climbing. Many great climbers of India, have their roots back to this school.
Four Major Dhams Highlights, the ultimate destination
The actual Dham journey actually begins from Janki Chatti to the Yamunotri Temple which is approximately 6 km long, and it officially symbolizes the beginning of your pilgrimage. It is a very beautiful and sacred start to the journey. You walk through an emerald lush green valley, with the young Yamuna flowing beside you; you see prayer flags waving in the wind as you walk. There is a very interesting fact related to Yamunotri. The main source of the Yamuna is the Champasar Glacier, which has an elevation of 4,421 m. This glacier is located roughly 1 km above the Yamunotri temple.
Gangotri, a temple at the edge of the river, lies at an elevation of 3,100 metres. It represents the second stage of your Chardham pilgrimage: purification. The Bhagirathi River is crashing through the gorge below and creating sacred mist. You are surrounded by very tall mountains. An interesting fact about Ganga water here is, it has antibacterial properties, which cannot be found anywhere else.
The third pilgrimage is, Kedarnath at the altitude of 3583 meters, which is located in the vast glacial amphitheatre below Kedarnath Peak and Kedar Dome. This Kedarnath temple is the only one temple where both Shivaties and Vaishnavites worship together. It is one of the 12 sacred Jyotirlingas. It is one of the magnificent mountain temples which was built by the Pandavas and restored by Adi Shankaracharya.
Last but not the least, Shrine of Barniath is your final dham at an elevation of 3133 meters. Badrinath shrine is located on the sacred banks of Alaknanda River. Alaknanda surrounded by the towering snow-covered peaks of Neelkanth Peak also known as the Queen of Garhwal. This is the only temple in the whole himalayan valley dedicated to the lord Vishnu. Also, it has quite a meaningful history associated with it. According to one of Hindu legends: When Shiva built this valley, it was for the purpose of his personal place to meditate. He did not want to give up any part of the valley. He loved Vishnu so unconditionally that he transcended all sense of donating it to Vishnu. There is life teaching, whatever you do, you do in and with love.
