That's the moment where time ceases to exist. You will witness the ancient glacier, as you look down, it sparkles like diamonds. And when you look at the mountain peaks, you can feel the spiritual power of devotion for tens of thousands of years. This journey is not just any normal traveling but you will feel your soul returning to two different places. This Do Dham yatra, is the journey that returns to something you never knew you were missing. It is one of the holiest journeys in existence, as you get to witness two most sought after Dhams, located along the twin shrines of Kedarnath and Badrinath. Kedarnath and Badrinath have drawn seekers, saints, and wanderers for the past millennium. There are two ways, either opting the roadways including trekking or by airways. This pilgrimage trip is especially designed for you, who has less time. Within a blink of an eye, you will be flown over the very same paths you would have walked on, in only minutes carried by faith.
The sacred pilgrimage of Do Dham Yatra, is quite a significant journey according to hinduism. The journey will begin in Kedarnath, which has no other purpose than to be a completely transformational destination. At nearly 3,583 meters, you will see the iconic mountains of Kedarnath Peak and Keda Dome. It is one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas associated with Lord Shiva. Pilgrims who have experienced this, describe that there is high divine energy, which cannot be compared to any emotions . talking about Badrinath, is also known as Neelkanth. It is believed that Kedarnath opens your soul up and Badrinath completes you. Badrinath is located at an elevation of 3,133 meters, near the banks of Alaknanda River, and when looking one way, you find the Badrinath Temple and looking the other way, you find one of the peaks of Neelkanth reserved for Lord Vishnu. The presence of the divine energy projected by Lord Badrinath brings us to complete stillness.
The Do Dham Yatra will take you to the nature’ wonderland. Starting from the winding mountain roads to river gorges, to the vast greenlands and much more. There are also some mythological facts related to it as well. In the ancient philosophical teachings of Shaivism and Vaishnavism, Lord Shiva is often seen as a rival to Lord Vishnu. But, both the deities are actually the reflections of the same reality. As per mythologies, Shiva is believed to represent the process of transformation, making a path for new developments. Whereas, Vishnu represents the love that preserves what is true and essential. You know, according to one of the greatest ancient texts named as Harivamsa shiva, Vishnu is recorded as one of the greatest devotees of one another, worshipping the other. Together they create a relationship of mutual reverence upon which the universe depends. One method to honour this relationship of complementarity is to take part in the Do Dham Yatra, a pilgrimage to two major shrines.
There are also so many interesting mythological facts related to the two holy shrines. First, we will share about kedarnath. According to legend, the Pandavas sought forgiveness from Shiva for all the lives lost, including some of their own, during the epic battle of Mahabharata. Disgusted by the bloodshed, Shiva avoided them, eventually taking the form of a bull and hiding among the herds of cattle in Garhwal. When the Pandavas found him, he dove underground in an attempt to escape. However, Bhima, one of the brothers who was very strong, held onto the bull's hump. This very hump (the place where the ultimate union with God happened) became the site of Kedarnath. Shiva's other limbs came to rest at four more locations, forming the Panch Kedar. The strongest of these five locations is Kedarnath, which has the largest number of pilgrims visiting and reverence for it.
Now, about Badrinath shrine, it is located in Chamoli district at an elevation of 3,133 m above sea level, is the location where Lord Vishnu meditated for thousands of years. Its name is derived from the "badri" (berry) trees that grew over the hillside. According to Indian mythology, while meditating here, Lord Vishnu was exposed to the elements in the formidable Himalayan environment. To protect him from the cold and wind, his consort Lakshmi converted herself into a badri tree. The temple contains the black stone idol of Lord Vishnu (in a meditative pose) and is characterized by a unique, brightly painted exterior. The idol is said to be "self-created" because it was not created by human hands but was produced naturally from the earth, and discovered by the famous philosopher-saint Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th Century A.D.
The journey will actually begin from Dehradun, which is nestled in the Doon Valley in the lap of Himalayas at the height of 640 meters. Since the journey officiates from Dehradun, we suggest that you must also visit some iconic locations as the beginning of this holy journey. This city has an ancient colonial charm and beauty with its big and magnificent old architectural structures. So therefore, it is appreciated and enjoyed by everyone who has visited there. In this city you will also witness some ancient and colonial style infrastructure.
